Shane Jeremy James || SOCIAL MEDIA POWER


Since the beginning of the Actions of Compassion movement there have been countless stories of how people have being going out into the world and spreading compassion everywhere they go, but one night Shane Jeremy James came across an amazing person who was making Actions of Compassion a priority in her life and this meeting would change Shane’s outlook on the whole movement.

Shane was live broadcasting on Periscope and thousands of people had tuned in, one of which was Laura and her 6 year old daughter, Janet. As Shane talked to Laura and Janet he discovered that they were one of the most compassionate families that he had ever met, he also discovered that they were going through some very hard times, six year old Janet was dying from brain cancer.

Each time Shane did a show Laura and Janet would be on telling everyone about the Actions of Compassion that Janet was doing in the children’s hospital and how Janet wanted to spread compassion all around the world. Janet even started doing her own live streaming show which her mom helped her out on as much as possible. Shane was touched so much by how a young girl dying of cancer could go out and do more Actions of Compassion then surely many more adults could step up their game and do the same thing. Janet is a little girl but she has inspired and will continue to inspire millions of people around the world to take more of a compassionate view on life and to spread many more Actions of Compassion each and every day.

Last month I was asked by Little Janet’s mom to photograph her last cancer treatment. It was one of the most moving experiences I’ve ever done in photography. Watching her tears run down her face and hearing her cries was more than I could handle as they injected the needle into her little frail body. Janet has an incurable brain cancer and is no longer treatable. I would ask that you say a prayer for this AMAZING little girl and her family.
